I have nothing to say and I am saying it (but it's not poetry)

One of the biggest issues in Kalgoorlie in recent weeks has been the inquest into the death of a Warburton elder. Just about every step of the way he was dealt with was wrong, wrong, wrong. Four Corners last night was a really touching look at the background to the inqest and his life (including footage of him aged about 3 from an old black and white documentary). I was in tears.

If you didn't see the show last night it's going to be repeated tonight on ABC TV at 11.35 pm (Tuesday 16th June). The transcript is at http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2009/s2598796.htm and there's footage and interviews at http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2009/s2595622.htm

(I forget how to do links off the top of my head and can't be bothered with the FAQ.)

I just saw Barnaby Joyce and Brendon Grylls singing karaoke.

All kinds of wrong!

OK, so I'm going overseas in late June for six weeks.

The first two weeks are sorted - I'm making my way over to London via Dubai, staying in London a couple of nights and then flying to Sweden for a dance camp.

But after that - I can't decide. I have friends in France I will spend time with, but apart from that... options are open.

I can't decide what I most want to see, but I do know I don't want to rush things too much. Cities I would like to see include Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Zurich, Vienna, Salzburg, Florence, Rome and Barcelona. I might have a friend in Vienna when I'm over there who offered a floor to sleep on, which is another consideration.

So...

Today it was hot.

I am sick of hanging out in my hotel room but that's where the aircon is and there's nothing else to do in Port Hedland when it is so stinkingly hot. (Not that there'd be much to do if it weren't so hot.)

The work airconditioner decided not to work this afternoon, so after an hour of returning calls etc it was back to the room, where the GWN news told me it got to 49 today. That would explain it...

It's now nearly eight and still very hot. The foyer where I'm typing is airconditioned but not in an Arctic way so I might leave now.

I have nothing else to say because the heat has melted my brain.

In other news, I bought a laptop on impulse today, so I can write when I'm in Broome for the first ten days of November.

Today I decided to clean the laundry as part of my new, cleaner lifestyle. What a mess. I've decided to chuck the cardboard boxes I was saving for "just in case" - but they take up too much room to fit in the bins so I'm not sure what to do with them

I've also been starting on my old uni notes at last. I'm not sure what to do with all the paper. The handwritten stuff I'll recycle, but all the photocopies with lovely blank backs for reusing? Not sure. More scrap paper than I could use in a decade. Should I just chuck it in the bin, or can someone suggest a better use?

I was wondering how many clothes a person needs, after reading about the "100 things" challenge on some blog. I'd like to have enough clothes to have choices (which I don't really at the moment, though I have stuff I never wear). How many pairs of socks, undies etc is normal? Trousers/shirts?

Things have been going a bit better this week. I've been travelling a lot lately - in the last few weeks I have been to (in separate trips) Wooroloo, Northam, York, Geraldton and Three Springs. Tomorrow I'm going to Northam again and I'm going home to Albany for an extended weekend on Thursday evening or Friday.

I seem to be having difficulty with things on the internet. I keep on getting "error on page" messages in the bottom left-hand corner when I try to click on the square type buttons to, for example, confirm that someone is a friend on facebook. What can I do?

Also, the Scrabble application won't work.

Also, I need a new computer. I want a laptop. Any ideas of where to start?

ETA: Livejournal square "post" button works. Yahoo mail "reply" button doesn't. I have no idea what the significance of this is.

I have become addicted. I've been searching for everybody I've ever known since I was about four years old. I also found a discussion topic about my old primary school. Ah, the memories...

Surprisingly, I have achieved other things this weekend. I've cleaned half my bedroom, done three loads of washing, helped in a vegie patch (and am wondering if I could do something with the one square metre of soil I have at my disposal), been for a healthy walk, been dancing, emailed naughty people who didn't give music back, beaten Chloe at Scrabble, and eaten icecream. All in all not an unsuccessful couple of days.

Bizarre. A headless bird just landed in front of me and said "hi" in an unfamiliar voice. I groped for the lightswitch, slightly concerned. Standing in front of the computer eating chocolate biscuits and avoiding the thought of work.
...
EDIT:
I deleted the rest, but this first complete sentence really IS bizarre. I would be very surprised if a headless bird said anything to me.
