De-cluttering, minimalising, recycling and so on

Today I decided to clean the laundry as part of my new, cleaner lifestyle. What a mess. I've decided to chuck the cardboard boxes I was saving for "just in case" - but they take up too much room to fit in the bins so I'm not sure what to do with them

I've also been starting on my old uni notes at last. I'm not sure what to do with all the paper. The handwritten stuff I'll recycle, but all the photocopies with lovely blank backs for reusing? Not sure. More scrap paper than I could use in a decade. Should I just chuck it in the bin, or can someone suggest a better use?

I was wondering how many clothes a person needs, after reading about the "100 things" challenge on some blog. I'd like to have enough clothes to have choices (which I don't really at the moment, though I have stuff I never wear). How many pairs of socks, undies etc is normal? Trousers/shirts?

Things have been going a bit better this week. I've been travelling a lot lately - in the last few weeks I have been to (in separate trips) Wooroloo, Northam, York, Geraldton and Three Springs. Tomorrow I'm going to Northam again and I'm going home to Albany for an extended weekend on Thursday evening or Friday.

I love other people's 'cleaner lifestyle' posts! *is inspired*

I dare say I'll be having the same questions when I sort out my clothes. It's difficult.

It is very difficult - not just the clothes, the whole de-cluttering thing. I tend to hang onto things that were presents, for example, when I really don't want or need or like them. I suppose with some clothes it can't hurt to have more rather than less - I mean, if you're wearing the same five pairs of knickers they'll soon wear out, so why not have ten pairs? And I prefer pretty "classic" trousers, skirts etc, and am unsure how many I should own.

I've given up the question for the day and am playing with my new toy - a digital camera :)

Do you have any friends/family with kids? If so, they might appreciate some of the blank-backed paper for drawing on. Or maybe a school...?

We're doing the de-cluttering thing too - getting rid of a whole lot of rubbish and reorganising the stuff we want to keep. It's hard keeping on top of entropy, I tell ya :P

I do have a young cousin and one or two friends with kids. Good idea, thanks!

Is your house ready for the arrival of WB yet?

Pretty much - his room is all set up except for the curtains (which I'm picking up from the market this Thursday), and we've got the bassinet in our bedroom now (he'll be sleeping with us for the first little while - makes it easier for feeds, and more secure for him I hope). We'll be working on the safety things well before he begins to crawl and explore.

All the obvious stuff is done - I suspect we'll be finding out a lot more as we go along though!

My worst habit is storing old birthday cards. I have drawers full of them but can never throw them out, even if I no longer even speak to the person who gave me one!

Anyway, my spirit is very willing to spring clean at the moment but my body is took weak (or lazy...)

I think I may still have Christmas cards from people I haven't seen since primary school :)

(they're in Albany though)
